In response to some false accusations against me on social media regarding the Republican Party Platform, Abortion, and the Hayden Levy from 3 years ago, I have written the following response:
First of all, regarding the Republican Precinct 318 Committeeman race: the Republican Platform is not meaningless. It defines the principles and values Republican voters expect their representatives to uphold. Without a platform, there is no way to measure if someone is actually voting as a Republican or a Democrat. I support the Republican Platform, including its pro-life position that states human life begins at conception and deserves protection. Voters deserve to know clearly where candidates stand. With me, there is no confusion. (IDGOP.org).
Second, regarding the Hayden levy from 2022: I am absolutely pro-law enforcement, and Sheriff Norris knows that — which is why I have his endorsement. But supporting law enforcement does not mean abandoning fiscal responsibility or due diligence.
An elected official’s job is not to rush taxes or ballot measures to the voters without first doing the hard work of reviewing the budget, prioritizing spending, and exhausting other options. Before asking taxpayers for a permanent 29.5% property tax increase, I believed we owed the public a careful review of the numbers, clearer ballot language, and a long-term plan that actually solved the problem.I was not saying “no” to law enforcement funding. I was saying: slow down, do the homework, and make sure we get it right.
Unfortunately, many of the concerns I raised at the time are exactly what the city is dealing with today: staffing shortages, funding gaps, and uncertainty about the future of law enforcement coverage.
As elected officials, we are accountable for the taxes we impose and the policies we approve. Asking questions, demanding due diligence, and protecting taxpayers is not anti-voter — it is responsible leadership.
For the past four years I have been a faithful Republican Precinct 318 Committeeman who consistently supports the Republican Platform, fulfills my duties as a PC, stands for life, supports law enforcement, believes in fiscal responsibility, and will do the hard work.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to vote on May 19.
